Apr 21 09 Background Plates Photography Completed! To create an old-fashioned look and feel for JOHNNY X, several BACKGROUND PLATES had to be filmed ... 2ND UNIT PROCESS PHOTOGRAPHY was personally supervised by Paul Bunnell and shot on 35mm black & white film provided by Kodak. A 35mm film print will be projected onto a huge translucent screen behind the actors during principal photography to achieve the desired effect. REAR SCREEN PROJECTION is a special effects technique used to create backgrounds in which actors are filmed in front of a screen on which a background scene is projected. This process was commonly used in early films to produce the effect of motion in a vehicle. PROJECTION SERVICES will be provided and supervised by the legendary Bill Hansard whose company Hansard Enterprises Inc. has been providing Process Photography and Back Projection services to the motion picture industry for over 60 years!
