Johnny X Success at BlobFest !

This past weekend The Ghastly Love of Johnny X had the honor of being the only new feature to screen at this year's BLOBFEST, held at the Colonial Theatre in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania; the very theatre where The Blob was filmed in 1957.

BLOBFEST did not disappoint the thousands who came to the weekend-long street party, which included re-enactments from The Blob, a street fair with music and food vendors, a costume contest and of course, screenings of the classic film itself.

The Ghastly Love of Johnny X screened in 35mm on July 12th to an enthusiastic crowd. Mr. Lobo hosted a Q&A with director Paul Bunnell, which can be seen in its entirety below (courtesy of Cinema Sickness).

Special thanks to Mr. Lobo for suggesting Johnny X to the Blobfest committee, who ultimately invited us to participate in this year's event.
It was Blobtasmagorical !!

Run, Don't Walk to see Johnny X in 35mm at Blobfest on July 12th !

Every July for the last dozen years, cult movie geeks have flocked to the historic Colonial Theatre in Phoenixville, PA for Blobfest, an annual event featuring scenes from the iconic 1958 sci-fi classic, The Blob.

The family-friendly event is a weekend-long street party that includes re-enactments from the movie on Friday night, a street fair on Saturday with music and food vendors, a costume contest and of course, screenings of the classic film itself.

The Sunday afternoon movie (double featured with The Blob) comes from the far flung future of 2012. It's a vintage 50's throwback featuring juvenile delinquents, flying saucers, cool cars, cosmic weapons, deadly dames, musical numbers, and just a splash of horror. It can only be The Ghastly Love of Johnny X!

We're excited to be showcasing The Ghastly Love of Johnny X on 35mm FILM (the way it was meant to be seen) at the very theatre The Blob was filmed! And, as if that were not enough, director Paul Bunnell will be there to introduce the film, and participating in a Q&A!

DVDs, Posters and Motion Picture Soundtrack CDs will be available for purchase from director Paul Bunnell throughout the event.

The Ghastly Love of Johnny X screens on Sunday, July 12th.

This year's Blobfest takes place July 10-12, 2015.

CBS Oscar Sunday Morning was a GHASTLY love affair !

"Oscar excitement builds in Hollywood for nominees like directors Steven Spielberg and Ang Lee. But for director Paul Bunnell, not so much. His movie wasn't even nominated.

In fact, his movie has gained notoriety for having the lowest box office take of 2012, making just $117 during a one-week release in Kansas.

"The Ghastly Love of Johnny X," a musical, is described by its creator as "a juvenile delinquent outer space on Earth-type . . . intergalactic dark horror sci-fi comedy with melodramatic moments." Bill Geist has a front row seat . . ."

Bill Geist
has been a correspondent for "CBS News Sunday Morning" since he joined CBS News in 1987.  He chronicles some of the quirkiest people and places in America for the broadcast.

In addition to the two Emmys, he has won many awards for his work as a humorist, commentator and reporter in television, newspapers and magazines.  Geist seems most proud, however, of taking third in the Illinois State Fair Bake Off in 1979.
